Hey #simplelifesociety! If you're looking for another quarantine project to tackle while you're at home, tackling the kitchen should be on your list. I find the kitchen to be a fun area to tackle, because the results are instant and it helps you stay organized for the future. While we are spending more time in the kitchen, making more home-cooked meals, an organized kitchen can make life at home easier and more enjoyable.
In my newest video, I'm sharing my favorite kitchen organization products! (This has been long over-due, and it's finally here.) Here are links to my favorite products so you could shop or explore what works for your kitchen needs and style: Shelf risers
If you need a place to start, here are the steps to take: 1. Start with a clean slate Remove everything from the drawer/cabinet
Check expiration dates. Throw out old/unused food/kitchen tools 2. Consolidate Group like items Create categories (ex: baking, sauces, dry goods, snacks)
Decant foods into containers (if applicable)
3. Placement
Place frequently used items at arm's reach (low)
Place less used items (ex: seasonal plates) at the top or stored away
Utilize vertical space with risers/under basket shelves/tiered shelves
Organize pots and lids with a holder
Use containers with dividers to sort and separate
Use larger bins or crates for storage of more like items
4. Optional: label!
Use sticker labels or a label maker to label the categories
