How To Sell Your Stuff Online

Hi #simplelifesociety! I hope you are all doing well. If you're at home (which I'm sure you are) and you find yourself going through your closet, I suggest creating a "sell" pile. Selling your gently used clothing and accessories can also be a great way to make some extra cash. I prefer to sell on poshmark or eBay, but whichever site you decide to use - you can use these steps. 1. Select | sellable items in good condition Time to raid your closet and find items you can turn into cash!

Closely inspect each item and group by category Items that aren't in sellable condition should be donated or trashed

2. Prepare | clean or launder

Make your items presentable! An easy way to do that is to clean it and get it as close to "new" condition as possible. For shoes, I use a gentle shoe cleaner and some elbow grease. Use one that works on various fabrics such as this one:

  • ample lighting

  • no clutter around the object

  • a clean backdrop

  • multiple angles

  • capture any defects or stains

For lighting, I suggest getting a small ring light like this one.We use this light for our eBay store, and it's lightweight with adjustable light settings!

Or for a more affordable and compact light I suggest one that clips to your phone like this one.

4. Research | Fair and competitive pricing You may think you know the price of an item, but it's important to do some research on the comps (comparables) from the same site you are selling on. 5. List | Informative description Start by describing the size, style, brand (optional), fit, etc. Be transparent about any damage or defects to the item.
