Hi #simplelifesociety, I am back with a "coronavirus edition" of how to organize and setup your entryway. Your entryway is exactly as it sounds like, the first area you step into when entering your home. This is why it's important to have a drop-off area where you can not only put your things away, disinfect your everyday items, and properly enter your home to minimize the further spread of germs. It's a scary time, I know. I, myself do not look forward to going to the grocery store and exposing myself to crowds. This is why I have new practices that I follow, and it all starts with disinfecting yourself and your things when you enter your home.
Let's start with the entryway. Pre-pandemic we would normally have a table surface to place your purse or wallet, a shelf for your shoes, and a hook for your keys. Now, we want to act as if everything we touched could possibly be contaminated. This is why I created a "sanitation station" at our entryway to make it easier to get your items sanitized first.
I also stop by the kitchen to unload my groceries or things I've bought. This is where I have my disinfectant wipes to wipe down everything first. This is an extra safety precaution that's easy to do.
What I have in my Sanitation Station:
Aromatherapy Essential Oil
Mask Hooks (labeled)
Hand and Face Wipes (not disinfecting)
These items may be difficult to find online due to high demand. Be wary of products purchased online - I am linking search categories for you to choose from - do your research and purchase at your own discretion.
What I do when I get home:
Stop at the entry way
Remove my shoes and outerwear
Spray and sanitize car keys
Take off mask
Put down phone
Sanitize phone and mask in UV Light Portable Sanitizer
Sanitize my hands
Hang mask
Unload groceries/items bought on kitchen island
Use disinfectant wipes on products
Wipe down reusable bags or recycle plastic bags
Remove clothing and put in the hamper
Wash hands!
DIY HAND SANITIZER
If you're having trouble finding pre-made hand sanitizer, you can make your own! *Needs to contain at least 60% alcohol to be effective according to the CDC.
What you need:
Isopropyl or rubbing alcohol
Aloe vera gel (must be gel, not just pure aloe vera)
Tea tree oil
Mix together:
2 parts alcohol to 1 part aloe vera gel
A few drops of essential oil (safe for skin only)
Add to upcycled bottles with a pump or travel sized containers for on-the-go!
