I am sharing my secrets on how I saved money this holiday season, by shopping for decor at the the thrift store! You'd be surprised at what you could find, and with a little creativity, you can create something custom and beautiful! 1. Customizing Thrift Store Finds
Stocking Holders I scored these gold frame stocking hangers for 50% off on black friday at Goodwill, making them just $1.99/ea. I printed out script letters (font: Great Vibes) on google docs and printed them out. It's simplistic, custom, and I love how it looks on our floating shelves.
2. Using Decor you Already Own
Green Wreath
This green wreath was about $4 after coupons from Value Village Thrift. I removed the old decor pieces (really simple to pull out) and replaced them with decor I already had. I secured the ornaments and ribbon bows in the wreath with the wire ornament hangers. Also added silver glitter pinecones, to perfectly coordinate with our christmas tree decor! It's that simple!
3. Hunting Holiday Accent Pieces
Ceramic Snowman and Glass Christmas Tree
The smallest pieces make the biggest difference. The ceramic snowman that glows red and green was $1, as well as the glass tree. I didn't want to spend too much on smaller pieces (and you shouldn't too!) So be on the hunt for affordable accent pieces that fit your interior style.
4. Transforming Non-Seasonal Items
Decor Baskets
Not all the items you find need to scream Christmas! My favorite items to hunt for are baskets. They are versatile, and can be used all-year-around. I found this wire and seagrass basket for under $10. I use it to display a decor pillow, gifts, and a santa hat next to our lit tree. Use to display your holiday throw blankets, pillows, and/or wrapped gifts!
5. Affordable Lighting
Battery-operated Twinkling Lights and Flameless Candles
Don't spend a fortune on expensive lights. Battery operated lights don't require an outlet, and you won't need to fuss with extension cords. I found these twinkling lights for $1, and use it to light up my shelves.
I also recommend flameless candles for a dreamy ambiance, without the fire hazard risk. (Great if you have little children around!) They're affordable and also battery-operated.
